- Our Approach -

We believe strongly that choosing the right care home is a huge decision to make. For that reason, we make it as easy as it can be for people to come and see the William Wilberforce, meet our staff and residents and find out whatever they need to know so they can make their choice.

In such circumstances, people want to learn as much as possible without being given the ‘hard sell’. For this reason, anyone wanting to know more about us is invited to see our home to witness its special qualities and the staff and residents who make it so special.

The whole family is welcome to join us. Our manager will be more than happy to give you a complete tour of the William Wilberforce and explain the full range of services we offer.

The William Wilberforce prides itself on providing the very best in:

● Residential care ● Dementia care ● Short breaks ● Respite care

We would be very happy to discuss your needs during a visit, introduce you to everyone and answer any questions you may have. We believe the William Wilberforce sells itself. It is important to us that you have all the information you need so you can make an informed decision. We can provide a full, written assessment of your needs so you have a formal basis on which to reach your decision. On a less formal basis, we encourage potential residents to spend a couple of nights with us so they can understand the quality of life we offer here and the friendly, relationship-based approach we nurture with those we care for.

Our care teams are not only highly skilled and qualified, but they are also passionate in their determination to always put residents’ well being first.

Individualised Care

Just as we believe the William Wilberforce is unlike any other care home, we also believe that everyone is unique. Each of us has different needs and preferences. What is best for one person will not suit everybody. This is why our individual care plans are devised to meet our residents’ needs and ensure their preferences are taken into account in all aspects of their stay with us. We provide residential living but also offer short breaks, dementia and respite care as not everyone has the same needs. Each resident receives the exact level of assistance they require from our friendly, trained professional staff. Our residents are our guests. We recognise and respond to their needs and wishes when it comes to everything from food and hobbies to exercise and special interests that can be so important to us. At the William Wilberforce, residents are being cared for by staff and management who have decades of experience looking after people with the full range of mental and physical impairments.

Independence

The whole motivation behind the William Wilberforce is our wish to make sure our residents lead fulfilling, rewarding lives while making the most of their privacy and their social time. Our home’s day-to-day running is based on the requirements and wishes of our clients. We believe that it has to be this way if a care home is to properly reflect the interests of those it looks after.

We respect residents’ wishes and will do whatever we can to make sure they live their lives with us exactly as they wish. Our staff will aim to encourage and support rather than insist. We help residents remain independent by facilitating all necessary support and technical assistance while making sure physiotherapy and other professional medical help is provided whenever it is needed. Our aim is for residents to be the happiest and most fulfilled they can possibly be. Although it is early, we certainly seem to be achieving that.
