- About William Wilberforce -

The William Wilberforce Care Home is the culmination of more than 30 years of experience meeting the needs of residents who have been entrusted to us. Our emphasis is always on what we can do to make our residents as happy as possible—in other words, an emphasis on exceptional care.

We always intended to make the William Wilberforce so much more than a care home. It is about receiving the best possible care in the most luxurious surroundings available. This can be seen in the bespoke design of the home—which was created to provide the very best in accommodation and facilities—and the careful selection and training of staff. It also motivates our attention to a whole range of other details, such as having a fully qualified nutritional therapist on site and our ongoing reviews of our extensive menus.

We believe that our residents benefit from the unique, caring service we offer. From our home’s resident-friendly design and facilities to our understanding of what a good cup of tea or a lovely meal can mean, we take an all-encompassing view of our residents’ welfare.

For us, attentiveness, patience and a smile are among our most-used resources. We want everyone under our roof to be healthy, happy and glad to be here. Our care is about meeting our residents’ needs while letting them enjoy their lives in an attractive, rewarding setting that is far removed from most people’s view of what a care home is.

We do not compromise when it comes to either care or comfort … our home was designed with both in mind. We can also say that despite our top quality services, we are very much affordable luxury living.

Traditional Values

While the William Wilberforce is a relatively new development in care homes, our approach and our values have been developed through our long family history of care management. Our emphasis on care, quality and enjoyment has been refined over the years so that we have an unrivalled knowledge of what can be done to maximise our residents’ pleasure.

As a family enterprise, we started our first home in 1984 and we have based our development on traditional principles of good care, attention to detail, sound organisation, quality of service and a dedication to our residents and their loved ones.

But while we believe we offer the very best to our residents, we are equally determined to discover or devise even more ways to make our care more rewarding for them.

Our Team

At the William Wilberforce we believe our staff members are key to residents’ happiness. We have spent a great deal of time and effort making the surroundings of the William Wilberforce as rewarding as possible. An equal amount of time and effort (if not more) has been put into ensuring that the very best staff are performing the exact duties they were hired for to the highest possible standard.

Our motivated and committed staff share one vision: to deliver the highest levels of care at all times. All our staff are meticulously selected and highly trained. When it comes to staff, we certainly place an emphasis on expertise, experience and professional qualifications. But we also look for enthusiasm, a winning attitude and a desire to meet residents’ needs.

Our staff are an asset of which we are very proud.

On being selected, our staff supplement their existing professional qualifications by undergoing security checks and our in-depth training program.

- Management -

Our Manager and Director of Care, Meg Kennedy, is highly qualified, with decades of care and care management experience behind her.

Having trained as a nurse and worked in the care industry in a wide variety of positions, she is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and holds the Registered Managers Award. In addition she has obtained postgraduate qualifications in nutritional science, and is a qualified nutritional therapist.

Meg sees her role as making sure that the people at the William Wilberforce come first. Comfort, cleanliness and care are her priorities, along with high standards of food and service and ensuring residents’ satisfaction. Her emphasis is on the quality that the William Wilberforce delivers in all aspects of its activities.
